Praline and the RSHP Model Shop
Praline and the RSHP Model Shop met whilst working together on the Richard Rogers + Architectes exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in 2007. Since then we’ve been collaborating on this constantly evolving exhibition, taking it to the Design Museum, the Caixa Forum Barcelona and the Caixa Forum Madrid. The Model Shop work predominantly with and for architects, not graphic designers. However, their philosophy to create models that communicate on many levels – encapsulating the design intent as a whole, as well as being persuasive, beautiful objects in their own right – is very close to Praline's design ethos.
The outcome
The project has evolved from architectural floor plates to font, from font to model, from model to 3D letters, to photographs, to text and a neon sign. An actual font called AVEC was created and exists in three weights: Floorplay, Mezzanine and Facade. The whole process has been recorded, which brings the 4th dimension of time. All these elements were installed as an exhibition at the A Foundation in London in January 2010.
