Richard Rogers + Architects:
From the House to the City
Fiell publishing, London

Soft and hard back,

Themes

The book takes a look at the work of Rogers and his partners, from the Sixties onward. Numerous key projects are presented as well as recent and in-progress work by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. Each section is devoted to the themes that define the practice: legible; transparent; lightweight; systems; green; urban; public; together with sections on early and in-progress work.

Colour

Each theme is carried by its own bold colour. The big, dynamic dividers give rhythm to the carefully edited content, presenting each project in a simple yet complete story. Films from the exhibition are displayed as image sequences and transcripts. Quotes from the architects reveal the human story behind the buildings. The timeline of all projects, in the centre gatefold, allow for a visual overview of the whole career of Richard Rogers, 'the last humanist'.

Reading 'Richard Rogers: From the House to the City' is a colourful, accessible and joyful experience.
