Costa Navarino, Greece

Praline, in collaboration with Less Rain, has created the branding for Costa Navarino, a new kind of luxury holiday experience in Messinia. The scope of the project included the design of the master brand and sub-brands, strapline, photography identity, tone of voice, brand panorama, design of memorabilia and guidelines for products and corporate documents.

The summer 2010 saw the opening of Navarino Dunes, the first of 4 resorts planned on the 1000 hectares of the site. The Costa Navarino brand is present throughout the site in subtle touches, respectful of the history and the environment from which it came from. Patterns are used by Praline to create the rich tapestry of the brand. They are based on ancient patterns and decorative elements familiar to the ancient Myceneans such as Nestor, the king mentioned in the Odyssey. The bespoke font (Costa Sans) is based on the Linear B alphabet, pre-dating the Greek alphabet, found in the area.

The vast brand architecture of a 5 stars resort of this scale needed to be as rich and powerful as the local landscape. We devised a brand panorama suitable to accommodate the growth of the resort and its sub brands. Its diversity communicates a sense of history, luxury and authenticity Costa Navarino's respectful, creative brand, takes the best of ancient Messinian culture and updates it for a modern, international audience.
